Witnessed a Suicide
If someone was present when someone died by suicide, or if they had a connection to someone who died, this experience will affect them in many different ways.
Grieving the loss of someone by suicide
If someone has witnessed a suicide, or had a connection to the person who died, then it can affect them in many ways. They will be experiencing a wide range of thoughts, feelings and emotions- and many of them may not make sense. They need to be reassured that what they are experiencing is a normal way to respond to a distressing situation. Support is available through help at hand – a resource that helps people bereaved through suicide or an unexplained death.
Affected by the death of a stranger
Support is also available to anyone affected by witnessing a suicide of someone they did not know, from either being at the scene after a suicide, being told about a suicide or working in an environment that may require a response to the suicide of an unknown person.
Anyone can be impacted when some they do not know has died by suicide regardless of how they are involved
